About

Jonathan Waters is a Visual Artist who grew up in Ashburton and is currently based in Dunedin, New Zealand. He has gained a Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) from Ara, Christchurch and a Diploma in Teaching (Secondary) from Victoria University, Wellington. He is a Teacher of Visual Art, Te Reo Māori and Design/Graphics & an Organiser/Curator for Creative Projects within the Community.

Jonathan’s main specialisation is in Painting, both small scale and large. He enjoys producing bodies of work which present a specific unique idea or theme. He also creates commission works, including Murals (both interior and exterior).

His first Solo Gallery Exhibition named 'Tooney Lunes' was at Robert Piggott Art Gallery, Dunedin in 2017. This was highly successful in both attendance and sales. Since then he has been involved in the organisation or participation in numerous solo, group and community Art Projects in Dunedin and around NZ.
